Responsibilities of Legal Unit in Morogoro DC

• The in charge of the Legal Section, responsible in handling cases which the council is a party.
• Responsible in advising the Council’s Director and all Head of Departments in all legal issues within the District.
• To prepare legal documents including contracts.
• To coordinated matters relating to security and safety.
• Advising other lawyers in handling cases which the council is a party.
• Drafting By-Laws of the Council.
• Attending all the statutory meetings of the council.
• In charge of supervising and coordinating the Ward Tribunals within the Council.
• Vetting contracts related to works, services and consultancy.
• In consultation with the District Planning and Coordination Office, responsible in preparing annual budget of the Legal Section.
• Doing all other duties which the director assigns.
• Handling cases assigned to them which the council is a party.
• Legal adviser to the Revenue Collection of the Council.
• Identifying Council By-Laws which are outdated and advising the Head of Legal Section on the Updating of the Laws/By-Laws.
• To raise public awareness regarding council By-Laws through media public flippers.
• Responsible for all matters relating to women and Children rights.
• Responsible for watching brief in all Criminal cases which the Council has direct interest such as Criminal cases related to revenues etc.
• Responsible for supervising all operations in enforcement of the Council By-Laws.
•  Doing all the other duties which is assigned by the Head of department
