Tanzania is is said to have 11% of its population being elders people by the year 2050, as the population increases dramatically by continuing to improvements in the health services in the country. This has been said by the Health Care Coordinator for Elders from the Ministry of Health, Social Development, Gender, Elderly and Children. Edward Mung'ong'oong'o while presenting a topic at a conference held in Arusha to the International Day of Elderly, He said that in 2002 the number of Elders was 1.4 million, equivalent to 4% of all 33.5 million people. In addition Dr. Mung'ong'oong'o said that the current number of Elders in the country is estimated to be 3 million equivalent to 5.6% of all people with current Tanzanian population with 55 million people.
