The team of management and staff from the Morogoro District Council has made a professional visit to the Selous National Park on 13th December 2017for the purpose of learning and seeing opportunities and attractions within the park.
The Selous Park is the largest reserve in Africa, one of the most fascinating attractions. This park contains a variety of animals including Elephants, Wild Dogs, Unicorns, Strokes, Crocodiles, Stones, and various birds.
This park is very large and bordering with the five regions of Morogoro, Coast Region , Lindi, Ruvuma and Mtwara. This park is located on the south side of the Morogoro District Council, bounded by Kisaki Ward. This park has many opportunities that will help the Council to increase its domestic revenue. Some of the opportunities are collection of income from tax deductions for the levy hotels in the levy.
Inside this park it is expected to be built in the largest electricity production project of Stiegler's Gorge that is expected to generate more than MW2100 in Tanzania
The Morogoro District Council has made plans to take advantage of this national project for enhancing the domestic output of the Councils and the income of citizens around the park area including infrastructure improvements during the project construction.
